Setting up PDC Support on eBox
This is a series of steps to configure PDC support on eBox to share data among Linux and Windows machines:
- Enter to eBox machine to check which IP address was binded with (e.g. via /sbin/ifconfig) and launch a browser. Then type the URL: https://IPaddress/ebox to log on in eBox.
- Go to File Sharing section to create a domain putting the service enabled and letting the rest attributes stay the same. Now, just save the changes.
- After that, create a user through Users section and after clicking on Create, check the administration rights in File Sharing section for that user who acts as PDC administrator.
- Then, create another user without administration rights to PDC but enabling his user account through PDC. (Steps 3 and 4 are interchangeable).
- Go to another machine within the same LAN (keep in mind the Samba protocol acts through broadcasting) with Win XP or superior.
- At that moment, in Properties from My PC, click on Net ID settting the Domain as EBOX (which it is the domain set through eBox interface). Leave the machine with the name used before and put the machine in PDC domain. Finally, obviously reboot that machine. (Repeat this step with as many clients as you have)
- Log on with both accounts created above and the net partition appears when clicking My PC with 100 MB as quota. (Or the quota you put on step 2)
That's all folks!
